Information we collect

If you join the monthly email list, we store the email address you provide and the page where you subscribed. We do not create visitor accounts. Recent searches, viewed hotels and favourites remain in your browser. Smart Filter searches and their results may be retained as described below.

Website measurement

We use aggregate usage statistics from visitors worldwide solely to improve this website. These describe popular pages and filters, use of search, maps and photographs, reading time, scroll depth and loading performance. We do not create analytics visitor or session IDs, save voice recordings, or measure affiliate advertising performance. We do not sell personal information.

Improving Smart Filter

Smart Filter may send the words you submit to OpenAI to interpret your hotel preferences. If the service is unavailable, basic filters run in your browser. We do not save voice recordings. To operate and improve search, our authorised team may review successful and unsuccessful submitted searches, the interpreted criteria, resulting hotel IDs and whether basic filters were used, for up to 30 days. These private service records also include the website and context version, timing, usage and outcome. Recognised credentials are redacted, but these checks are incomplete and do not make searches anonymous. Please avoid including personal details or secrets in your search. No visitor identity or individual browsing history is attached. This service review is separate from optional usage statistics, so the statistics preference and Global Privacy Control do not disable it.

How statistics are handled

Our Cloudflare service uses the network country, broad region and approximate city to produce geographic totals. Missing locations are omitted from geographic reports. We do not save IP addresses or IP hashes in analytics. Statistics are combined before they are stored in our private Firebase database; there are no individual browsing histories. Region and city totals with fewer than 10 recorded views are withheld from reports. Global Privacy Control also switches usage statistics off. Infrastructure providers may separately process network information to operate and protect the website.

You can disable usage statistics below at any time. The choice applies to this browser and is remembered as a simple on/off preference. Clearing browser storage resets the choice. Statistics already combined into totals cannot be linked back to you. Aggregate statistics are retained for up to 13 months; Smart Filter review records have the shorter 30-day limit above.
